Spooky Eye

I have to admit, I'm a sucker for these kinds of streaky light effects for some reason, this being no exception. And the eye is so pearly and opaque!

Integral Thought
I like the contrast between the stark and simple black and white center and the growing abstraction around it that almost seems like growing nerve bundles!

Times Square on New Year's Eve by Dee Flouton

This work of abstract art really looks like Times Square on New Year's Eve, but it's actually a digital art map of a photo of a pond! Once you know that, the image takes on a whole new depth, and it's so festive and colorful too.

She Emerges by Stacy Lee

We're featuring another image by Stacy Lee, because when I found her gallery I had a hard time choosing which one to post here, so I didn't!
I love the collage-ish flow of this digital work - it's subdivided but not, and wonderfully layered and expressive!

Blocks of Color by Stacy Lee

This is a squares in square sampler of a sorts. Once again I am taken in my all the bright, shiny colors! They are all pieces of Stacy Lee's other works - a clever combination! Click here for the zoom and more info.Labels: Digital Art

Symmetrical obsession (Part 2)
I thought Symmetrical Obsession Part 2 by Johan Mels was not just an excellent addition to Art Squared Art, but also just a really cool piece of art on its own, and perfect in monochromatic black and white! And such cool symbolism too, with the perfectly still pendulum.

Crystal Evolution 1.1a

Crystal Evolution 1.1a by Algofractals really caught my eye. I love the shape-abstracted form and how it's not as "enclosed" as a typical yin-yang would be. And the straw-like textures in the background are cool - like electronic static.

Cave Painting
Today's post is about CavePainting by Kim Moreno. It's a work of digital art, although you wouldn't necessarily guess that at first.
Fabulous earthtones, lots of intimations of movement combined with a fading out of the beasts like they are showing they belong to history instead of the present. I also love the metallic-like wavy hoops that accent the square image so nicely! Click on the image or click here to check out this piece in more detail and also to see more of the artist's gallery. Step Dream
Take a look at Step Dream by JaNell Golden, a wonderfully colorful and abstract work of digital art!

The wild liquid colors in this remind me of some kind of strange photographic emulsion, come to life during the process of developing the film! Can you see the new world swimming within?

Celtic Triskele
This design of mine is a rough/primitive Celtic Triskele, with Celtic knotwork, in greens for the traditional colors associated with Ireland and St. Patrick.

It's a modern take on a rather traditional tri-spiral design that you'll see all over Ireland, carved in stone, etc.

Finding Nirvana & Sand Castles
Today I'm happy to present two wonderfully surreal art squared images from American artist Ryan Ayers. The first one is oil on canvas, titled "Finding Nirvana", and the second is digital art, titled "Sand Castles".
Finding Nirvana - Oil on Canvas 36"x36"
 Sand Castles - Digital Art
Ryan has a terrific eye for composition and a fantastic sense of the surreal and spooky/eerie - I was going to say macabre or horror, but it's less creepy and more psychological if you ask me, and just a touch more magical as well.
Click on the images above to purchase prints from the artist or click here to see his entire gallery and visit all the other cool alternative worlds he has created!

Free Lulu Abstracts
I found the Free Lulu site one day and loved the variety of designs that they sell on square ceramic tiles (especially the abstract pieces). Some of my favorites are featured below - the first three are from the 'Doodle' category and the second three are part of the 'Color Block' series:

Many of these interesting abstract works of art can also be found on throw pillows too! They also have billiard designs, kids illustrations, fruit crate labels, butterflies, etc., all square. Click here to check out the entire shop.Labels: Digital Art
